Experience & Counseling Philosophy

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University in 1988. After raising my four children and volunteering in children’s ministry, I spent thirteen years as a teacher. Currently, I am completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Amberton University, working toward my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor).

I believe everyone has a unique story that shapes who they are today. Our experiences—both positive and negative—deeply influence how we navigate life. My approach is rooted in Psychodynamic Therapy, as I strive to understand the “why” behind each individual’s behaviors.

I also take an eclectic approach to counseling, tailoring proven methods to meet each client’s unique needs. At the core of my practice is Person-Centered Therapy, ensuring unconditional positive regard and a strong therapeutic relationship. There is something transformative about the counseling process—a space where healing begins, burdens are released, and new paths forward are discovered.

Let’s get personal…

I’ve been married for forty years, a journey that has included both joyful and challenging seasons. Like many couples, my husband and I brought our own flaws into the relationship. Over time, we learned to grow together while raising our four wonderful children. Today, they are happily married with families of their own, blessing us with twelve precious grandchildren.

Faith has always been central to my life. As a lifelong Christian, I strive daily to reflect Christ’s light, love, grace, and mercy in a world that often feels broken. My relationship with Him is foundational—He is my Creator, my Savior, and the ultimate example of the perfect Counselor. His love inspires me in my work and in my life.

I approach life with optimism, believing that the glass is always half full. I see the good in people, even when they cannot see it themselves. This perspective fuels my passion for counseling, as I seek to help others recognize their strengths and heal from their pain. Life is a journey full of seasons—some joyful, some challenging—but each one contributes to our unique stories.
